) Promyelocyte (arrow) with its characteristic large size, a roughly pentagonal nucleus with nucleoli, and prominent azure (primary) granules in blue cytoplasm with a small lighter Golgi zone. Early myelocyte (asterisk) somewhat smaller than promyelocyte, more mature nuclear chromatin pattern, early neutrophilic granulation expanding from Golgi zone ("sunburst effect") and three band neutrophils, one compressed and one with a twisted nucleus.
