Neutrophil precursors. Marrow film. (A) Promyelocyte (asterisk) with its characteristic large size, a roughly rectangular nucleus with nucleoli, and prominent azure granulation in blue cytoplasm with a small lighter Golgi zone. Myeloblast (arrow). Early myelocyte is below still with many azure granules but with lightening of cytoplasm indicating presence of neutrophilic granules. Plasma cell to the right. (B) Band neutrophil. (C) Neutrophilic myelocyte and neutrophilic metamyelocyte (lower left).
