| | Chronic myelogenous leukemia. (A) Blood film. Marked increase in
white cell count. Abundant platelets. Myelocytes, metamyelocytes,
band, and segmented neutrophils. Several cells are giant bands with
immature nuclear chromatin pattern (exaggerated proportion of euchromatin).
Compare to dense nuclear chromatin in segmented neutrophils. Basophil
in center of field. Relatively slight change in red cell morphology.
(B) Blood film. Promyelocyte, myelocytes,
metamyelocytes, and segmented neutrophil. Basophil at top center.
Frequent platelets. Relatively slight changes in red cell morphology.
(C) Large basophil center of field.
