Antibiotics in Pediatric Dentistry
The antibiotics of choice for odontogenic infection are clindamycin and penicillin. Several patient groups require prophylactic antibiotic coverage prior to invasive dental manipulation. These include children with artificial heart valves, previous infectious endocarditis, certain congenital heart conditions, immunodeficiency, or central venous catheters.
