About this lecture:
Most patients undergoing surgery are taking prescription or over-the-counter medications, some of which can potentially adversely affect perioperative outcomes. The physician team must decide whether to continue, discontinue, or change the dose of these medications preoperatively. This lecture reviews the pharmacologic and physiologic principles, available evidence, and consensus opinions involved in managing these medications in the perioperative period.
