About this lecture:

In this lecture, we will discuss key elements of the history, physical examination, and diagnostic testing that should be considered in adults presenting with seizures. We will define a seizure, epilepsy, and explore the risk factors for each. The diagnostic approach to a first-time seizure is examined, as are the variables that influence the risk of seizure recurrence. Finally, we will provide a brief introduction to the medical management of epilepsy, and discuss the interventions when epilepsy becomes medically refractory.
